BB's Pet Grooming Tip # 2

Hey Petentials pets,
This is from my mom, the dog groomer...

Watch out for those pesky fleas!!!! They can get on you ANYWHERE...a walk in the park, friends visiting, going to grandma's house...even they will get on your mom's or dad's pant leg and come in the house...and then on YOU!

There are over 2000 species of fleas in the world. Thankfully, only the cat flea and the dog flea (Ctenocephalides felis, Ctenocephalides canis) are important to dogs and cats. Despite the name, cat fleas infest dogs just as much as they infest cats.

The problem is that fleas breed in stupendous numbers. Each female can lay as many as 200 eggs, which immediately fall off the animal, all around your home. They only take 2 weeks to hatch and lay eggs themselves...you do the math...not where I want to live!

Make sure your mom and dad are careful where you go...especially this time of year.

Also, make sure they have a "FLEA COMB" so they can check your skin looking for signs that look like pepper...(flea poop)...yuck!!!...But it feels so good when they comb you and fix your hair so nice...

If you see a flea or just "signs" of them...ATTACK FAST!!! nip it in the bud...they are alot harder and more costly if they let it get ti the infestation stage...

There is no such thing as "My baby does not have fleas!" anymore...

Be careful out there.

BB Hartley the Bulldog.

BB, My mom got these pills

BB,
My mom got these pills from my vet, Dr. Burke, and he says they're just as good as K-9 Advantage but better 'cause it won't wash off.
Just an idea to all the other flea-fearing pets out there.

Binx

Hi all! My binx is highly

Hi all! My binx is highly allergic to fleas. Before we knew about that he had gotten infections on a regular basis from just a single bite. When he got the allergy test the numbers were extremely high for the flea saliva. I also get really bad reactions from flea bites so i had always done everything i had to do to be sure there were no fleas in the house. I had tried several flea treatments to find something to help my Binx stay flea free when he was out and about. We did flea baths of different brands, the flea medicines from the store, Advantage, and Bio Spot. Everything except the Bio Spot did not work one little bit for my Binx. The Bio Spot made him get bad blisters on his little belly, it was awful! Finally I found something that works just great for my Binx, Frontline, the one for everything! We have been so lucky so far after almost a year of using it that he has been great! So, now there is my personal experience with flea treatments, I know all to well how important a good flea prevention is and how different things work better for different pets. You just have to keep trying and you will find just the right one!! :) Flea free Binx and Susan!!

Binx, I am allergic to

Binx,
I am allergic to Frontline and other dogs may be too. My vet said so too!
Just food for thought, but I'm glad it works for you.

Binx

Wow, that really doesn't

Wow, that really doesn't surprise me since my Binx has had such bad reactions to different products as well, that is why when anyone asks me I tell them that they have to talk to their pets docotrs and what has worked for my Binx may not for theirs! :) Binx and Susan

Yeah that's what BB always

Yeah that's what BB always tells me from her mom.
Your parents have to talk to your vet before putting you on any meds.
